FEATURED IN:

Sidewidener II is the ultimate mono-compatible spatial imaging tool for individual sources, instrument groups, and master bus processing.

As far as stereo image processing goes, there’s never been a better option for mixing and mastering engineers than Sidewidener II. While the interface is simple and accessible to all skill levels, the pseudo-stereo, psycho-acoustic enhancements happening under the hood are world-class in their design and execution.

With Sidewidener II, you can enhance stereo separation, improve spatial imaging, and create width from mono sources with just a few quick adjustments without phasey-sounding results - all while monitoring the effect of those adjustments on up to three different visualizers.

Wide View

Sidewidener II includes features for musicians, engineers, and producers looking to introduce spatial widening to their tracks without the risk of breaking their mix in the process. You can:

  • Control the width of any instrument or group of instruments in a mix
  • Easily stereoize mono tracks (without losing the center)
  • Enhance stereo tracks, making them sound even wider
  • Monitor your results with precise, sample-accurate visualizations

Mastering-Grade Visualization

For professional mastering engineers, sample-accurate, precise monitoring is essential when it comes to detail-oriented work and spatial enhancement is no exception. Sidewidener II has three distinct visualizers incorporated in the plugin that you can easily toggle between to visualize your audio in the way that works best for you including:

Polar Sample Visualizer

The Polar Sample Visualizer uses polar coordinates to plot dots per sample across the stereo field from left to right. Dots placed within 45 degrees of center are considered “in-phase” while those falling outside of that range are considered “out-of-phase”.

Polar Level Visualizer

The Polar Level Visualizer uses polar coordinates to plot rays per sample across the stereo field from left to right. Rays within 45 degrees of center are considered “in-phase” while those falling outside of that range are considered “out-of-phase”. The length of each ray represents its amplitude.

Lissajous Visualizer

The Lissajous Visualizer uses rectangular coordinates to plot rays per sample across the stereo field. Generally, this visualization is used to identify how similar or dissimilar left and right channels are. A shape that is taller than it is wide means the two channels are more similar than different, with a straight vertical line representing true mono.

In addition to these three visualization modes, Sidewidener II also includes a Correlation Meter and Stereo Balance Meter for complete mastering-grade monitoring while you mix.

Your Mix, Your Modes

Don’t get locked into a one-size-fits-all solution to your spatial widening needs. Every session (and every instrument for that matter) has its own unique characteristics, and your stereo enhancements need to be flexible when working with various source material.

Sidewidener II comes with 5 distinct modes to choose from:

  • Classic Subtle - Provides simple, subtle spatial widening.
  • Classic Balanced - Provides a traditional spatial widening effect.
  • Classic Extreme - Allows for maximum width at the risk of some time smearing (similar to a room reverb).
  • High-End Enhancer - Provides a subtle stereoizer effect and high-end widening.
  • Midrange Pusher - Provides subtle stereoizer effect and midrange widening.

TIP: Try High-End Enhancer mode on your lead vocal track and Midrange Pusher on your guitars!

Why Mono Compatibility Matters

One of the biggest pain points most mixers will face with any spatial imaging tool is a lack of mono support. Pushing wideners to their limits can sound great in stereo, but the moment those processed tracks get collapsed down to mono, the mix buckles and instruments disappear.

Sidewidener II alleviates this problem by being the industry’s first and only mono-focused spatial processor, retaining mono compatibility above all else. As a result, you can push the plugin to its limits with even the most extreme processing mode and still get results that work on mono devices.

Whether you’re a professional or a beginner, Sidewidener II processes your audio in a way that’s SAFE and EFFECTIVE!
